Reviewing 5 brands of women's anti-chafe boxer briefs

Instagram (ew, I know, why do I still use it?) decided to recommend me a bunch of “women’s” boxer briefs. I'm trans but I wear women’s underwear because the pouch on the front of men’s underwear gives me more dysphoria (I don’t pack). I have trouble in the summer with my thighs chafing, so I decided to give them a try.

I am 5’4” and about 150 lbs (163 cm / 68 kg). I chose size small or medium for everything.

Ranked from worst to best:

DNF: Woxer

I refused to buy woxers because (at of time of purchase) they did not carry a SINGLE pair without the company name prominently on the waistband. I don’t like thick waistbands, and I hate advertising for a company, especially if they have such an egregiously stupid name. What’s more, they have ads SPECIFICALLY targeting trans and non-binary people. I don’t know a lot about marketing, but if you want men to buy something try not putting a portmanteau of “woman” and “boxer” ALL OVER???

5. Underoutfit

I had a problem with these unraveling at the waistband, so there are quality issues. At $35 I would expect a better product.

4. Molasus (Amazon)

I didn’t like the thick waistband because it dug into my belly and made an unflattering line. But they were a lot cheaper than the others. $25 for 4.

3. Boody

These are good, but they do lose points for having the company name on the outside of the product. But they have pockets! And at $26 are probably the best value.

2. Knix

These are nice, and they are the only brand I reviewed that come in absorbent styles too. I haven’t needed them because I don’t have my period now but I assume they know what they’re doing in that department because I was happy with the overall quality. $39 is expensive but not the most.

1. Thigh Society

These are my favorite. The 7-inch cargo ones with pockets in particular. I tried the 5-inch ones and they had problems with riding up. They also come in 9-inch length, but I didn’t try those. I don’t love the price, they are the most expensive at $45.

This is a bit of a departure from what I normally write, but I thought this would be helpful to my fellow consumer.
