The revisionist urge to delete everything I ever wrote

A bunch of my posts are gone (on purpose).

Experimenting with removing everything "cringe" or "controversial".

Nothing is ever really gone, as long as I have backups. If I remove everything that might not age well, I end up deleting almost everything. But maybe that's what I need.

The thing is, it feels really good to hit that unpublish button. It feels good to have my past disappear. It feels good to be anonymous...and that's hard in this day and age!

I feel like a toddler who just discovered that lying exists. If the fascists are going to rewrite history, I'm going to rewrite my blog. I'm going to tell my story my way. I'm going to control my image.

(I'm going to delete this very post, or at least edit it. Why hide that fact? If Democrats, the people I voted for, are gonna openly gerrymander California, I can edit my own blog.)

Am I spineless?? Am I artistic? To be honest, I don't think I make enough of a difference either way. I just want to make people think about how they consume content online. When do we assume good faith? When does that get us into trouble?

Because I'm lying online. But sometimes lies contain more truth than facts?
